Accuracy of GNSS Position Stored in Fishing Boat Location Transmitters in Comparison with That of DGPS Position

Fishing boat laws in Korea require fishing boats to be equipped with a location transmitter. Approximately 91% of registered have V-pass terminals, whereas those gross tonnage 10 t or more either automatic identification system (AIS) terminals (or use both). Most navigators, including the transmitter, rely on satellite signals provided by global navigation (GNSS) without considering accuracy instruments that indicate ship location. Many scholars are conducting research analyze GNSS locations through continuous experiments; however, few them focus transmitters. Particularly, equipment is unknown. Notably, and AIS used mainly designed locate need assistance following marine accident rather than provide information approaching ships preventing collisions. Therefore, this study aimed compare storage data extracted from transmitter (V-pass terminal) DGPS Electronic Chart Display Information System check position error it for analysis investigation.
